Why I love meditation to help me make healthier choices...


Meditation is not only great for calming the mind and relieving yourself of anxiety and stress, but it is great for strengthening your intuition and inner guidance.

The importance of this means you can better understand yourself, your body and what’s best for you.

Have you ever eaten a meal and said to yourself ‘I’m not sure if I should eat this’ and then the following day you’re sick? That was your intuition trying to warn you not to eat the meal.

Have you ever had a bad feeling about going somewhere but decide to go anyway, only to go and realise the event is cancelled, you don’t enjoy it one bit or it’s a nightmare trying to get there? That’s your intuition saying maybe miss this today.

I’m sure you’ve had hundreds of experiences like that and I’m here to let you know that you can use your intuition for your habits and your everyday life. But it’s only great if you’re truly connected to feeling it and listening. Meditation helps with that. The more we silence the mind the more can connect with our intuition and strengthen it!

I use it often in a slightly different way. I often ask my intuition/inner guidance questions to help me eat better or choose a workout.

If I’m struggling to decide what to eat for breakfast I’ll ask ‘what does my body need to eat today?’ I’ll then often get and idea or something will pop out at me guiding me to a healthier choice.

If I’m having a day where I don’t want to workout I will sit for a moment and see what my intuition is telling me. Sometimes I just get a feeling that I should still workout and sometimes I automatically know I need to rest – usually when that happens the following day I teach an extra hard class or I am asked to cover a class and I automatically know that my intuition guided me for a reason.

This may sound a bit woo woo but why not give it a go. Start with a 5 minute meditation on a daily basis and then throughout your day make decision on the small things by going by how you feel!
